What is the Reina del Huipil Festival?
Reina del Huipil is one of the most beautiful & colourful cultural festivals of Mexico. This festival honors spiritual traditions, ancestral languages, and local textiles through dances, music, and rituals in the magical town of Cuetzalan located in the Sierra Madre region of Puebla.

Cuetzalan appoints a young indigenous woman as ambassador of the traditional female garment named Huipil during celebration to honor Saint Francis of Assisi. A selected group of young women, representing Cuetzalan’s villages, compete for the title parading before the judges at town square, wearing large and intricate wool headgear, carrying a ribbon in their hands, sporting regional dresses and barefoot.
